Bernd Vogl, graduated from HTL (mechanical engineering) and from Vienna University for business economics. From December 1992 till August 2011 Bernd Vogl was an energy expert in the Austrian Ministry of Environment with focus on green buildings and the development of passive houses and ecological building codes in Austria. From April 2006 till August 2011 he was co-leading the Department of Environmental Economics and Energy in the Ministry. He was involved in numerous national projects and programs dealing with energy efficient technologies and renewable energy sources. From 2004 till 2011 he was leading the Austrian climate protection initiative “klima:aktiv”. Since September 2011 Bernd Vogl is leading the Municipal Department 20 - Energy Planning of the City of Vienna. The main task of the Department is the management and coordination of the Viennese energy programmes and strategic work with focus on decarbonisation of cities. In addition he has been working as a member of the supervisory board for the municipal energy supplier – one the largest energy companies in Austria - till 2016.
